What is a watershed?

A watershed is the area of land where all the rain, snow, and runoff drain into a common waterway. Everything we do on the land — from yard care to pet waste to what we pour down a storm drain — flows into the creek.

About Claggett Creek

Claggett Creek covers roughly 20 square miles in Marion County. The watershed crosses three local jurisdictions — Marion County, the City of Salem, and the City of Keizer — connecting neighborhoods, parks, wetlands, and wildlife habitat before draining toward Clear Lake and the Willamette River.

Why it matters

Healthy watersheds support clean drinking water, productive habitat for fish and wildlife, and resilient neighborhoods. Protecting Claggett Creek is a shared responsibility — and a shared benefit.
